James F.. Hinderliter, 79 of Falls Creek, PA died
Saturday, November 16, 2002 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 17, 1923, in DuBois, Pa, he was the son of the late Homer and Rosie Satterlee Hinderliter. He was married to Lucille Erickson Dec. 8, 1946, in Warren, PA. He was a graduate of Falls Creek High School Class of 1941. He was an avid Steeler fan, Pirate fan and University of North Carolina basketball fan. He was a partner in Phillips Hardware Store in Falls Creek for many years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois. He served as secretar of the executive board of the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging; vice president of Jefferson County Industrial Development Authority; member of the Jefferson County Municipal Authority; president of the Falls Creek Planning Board, member of Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons; member of Reynoldsville American Legion; life member of the Falls Creek Fire Department; former vice president of the Jefferson County Republican Party; member of Falls Creek Eagles; former president and member of the DuBois Kiwanis Club and former member of the DuBois Salvation Army Advisory Board. He served in the U.S. Army 148th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. He served in Rhineland, Northern France and Ardennes Central Europe. He was one of 19 Jefferson County, PA veterans to receive the French Jubilee of Liberty Medal on Veterans Day, 2002. He is also survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Sattler of Madison, Wisconsin, and Judy Hinderliter-Smith of Durham, N.C.; one brother. Donald Hinderliter of Gaithersburg, Md.; one sister, Helen Hinderliter Smith of Larned, Kansas; and two grandsons. |
