Mr. Shropshire was truly an inspiration to me when I was a student. My first real interaction with him was as a member of the Human Relations Planning Committee. He helped me understand many of the issues facing minority students on a predominantly white campus. He did more than that though. Through his personal style and leadership example, he showed me that any one individual could be a positive force for change -- not so much by doing great things in great ways but more by fighting the little battles and setting a personal example for others to follow. Besides that, he always had time for me and for many other students -- just to talk, to advise, to help. He made my world a better place and I know he did the same for a lot of people.
